Our world is full of images and yet we still are able to delight each other with our own expression. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t see a new book, card, or even a plate that doesn’t bring on a smile. And I’m not alone there are usually plenty of others who find them tantalizing as well. Art, illustration and writing is so important to the social animals that we are that there can be no end to our sharing.

As I work as an artist I am always finding new projects. There are so many places that my creative skills have brought me. I have designed lots of toys, wallpaper, and packages. Some blankets and games. Then there are the books. I have been fortunate to illustrate books for children and adults. Everyday I get new requests for my services.

Actually it is no surprise that I would be an author/illustrator I practically grew up in book stores.  My mother, Allwyn O’Mara, was a children’s book buyer. She worked for many fine independent book stores, and when she was there my sister and I were often there helping to shelve and wrap books. We brought home books. My house was always filled with books. We spent some of the best times in our lives listening to each other read books. Now I curl up with my own son and husband to read wonderful books and share the special connection a book can give a family.

My father, Michael O’Mara, was a wonderful artist.  He taught me drawing, painting, print making, and sculpting. His enthusiasm for all kinds of medium gave me the courage to branch out to lots of different medium.

I now teach art. I enjoy sharing the creative process with other people through the different classes I teach.

I keep in touch with kids as a volunteer at my sons elementary school. I co-chair and teach the kids art and gardening through PTA programs.  I participate in the Wonders of Reading, were I read with children at the school who have a challenge reading so they can strengthen not only their skill as a reader but their love of reading. Then of course I do school visits as an author/illustrator.

If you would like to see my different styles or what books I have published click on the words at the top of this page and you can see slide shows on the pages attached to this site.

I’m looking forward to many new books to post on this site so come back and look again.
